Virtual Program - Why Garden Off The Ground?
Raised bed, straw bale, and container gardening take place above the surface of the soil. There are many advantages to these methods, including accessibility, aesthetic design, pest control, and being able to garden in a small space. The presentation includes an introduction to construction of these types of gardens and consideration about what types of plants to grow.
Presented by Rutgers Master Gardener Pat Donahue. Rutgers Master Gardeners are trained volunteers who assist Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES) Cooperative Extension in its mission to deliver horticulture programs and information to the general public. Anyone with an interest in gardening and a commitment to volunteer service can become a Rutgers Master Gardener.
Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Middlesex County can be found at the E.A.R.T.H. Center, in Davidson's Mill Pond Park and is part of a nationwide network that brings the research of the state land-grant universities to local people.
