The Summer Reading Program for teens at Rodman Library will run from May 29 through July 28. There will be programs, prizes, hands-on creative opportunities and special events.

 

Teens, ages 12-18 will have several opportunities to win prizes. By completing 20 hours of reading, the teen will get a choice of a paperback book. Each additional 5 hours will be awarded with a Summer Reading themed prize.

For every week the teen reads 4 hours, they will get entered into the grand prize drawing for 1 of 2 prize baskets.

There will also be weekly online challenge questions for teens. For each correctly answered challenge question, participants will receive an additional entry into the grand prize drawing.

2018-10-17 Teen Writing Club

The Teen Writing Club meets on every other Wednesday of the month (go to www.rodmanlibrary.com for specific dates). For ages 12-18, the purpose of this group is to meet with fellow teen writers to work on writing exercises and hone skills. Any teen can join. Share work with the group if desired. The next meetings will be on October 3, 17 and 31, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. No registration is needed. For more information, call the Main Library at 330-821-2665, ext. 213.

2018-10-18 Teen Gaming Days

Every other Thursday, from 3-5 p.m., area teens, ages 12-18, are invited to Rodman Public Library to play their favorite video games on the Xbox One, Xbox 360 with Kinect, Playstation 3 & 4, and Nintendo Wii & WiiU. Visitors will have the opportunity to play a different game each week. Games with ratings from "E" for Everyone, up to"T" for Teen level, will be offered. Along with the video games, iPads are available to teens. No registration is required for these free gaming events. For more information, call the library at 330-821-2665, ext. 214. 2018-10-23 Gaming Unplugged

Teens, ages 12-18, gather your friends and come to the main library on the next to last Tuesday of each month from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Choose your favorite board games... or card games on hand at the library. Be adventurous. Try something new. Bring your own magic and duel it out with your friends. No registration is needed

2018-10-25 Zombie Nerf Night

Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to join us in the Main Auditorium on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., to get ready for a Zombie Nerf Night. At 4:30, teen participants will transform into the walking dead by applying Zombie makeup. Time permitting, teens will then walk around the neighborhood. Attendees may bring tattered clothes or old dress attire to fit the theme. After the library closes, a Zombie themed Nerf night will take place throughout the library. Games played will be feature a living dead theme. For teens who want to play Nerf only, please arrive at 5:15 p.m. Teens who choose to bring their own guns should have their name clearly marked on them to avoid confusion. Nerf will begin at 5:30 p.m. Makeup will be provided by the Friends of the Library. No registration is needed. For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 214.

2018-10-30 Anime Club

All teens, ages 13-18, are invited to Rodman Public Library on the last Tuesday of each month from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Teens will have the chance to pick their favorite episodes to be shown on RPL's big screen.
