Teens, ages 12-18 - We Want You! Help us decide what kind of programs we will have for our teen patrons. Those teens interested in having their voices heard, come to Rodman Library's Auditorium. The Teen Advisory meets on the third Monday of the month to help decide teen programming at the Library. This is a great opportunity for teens looking to do community service. For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 214.
On Thursdays, from 3-5 p.m., area teens, ages 12-18, are invited to Rodman Public Library to play their favorite video games on the Xbox One, Xbox 360 with Kinect, Playstation 3 & 4, and Nintendo Wii & WiiU. The next sessions will be held Thursdays, July 5th, and 19th. Visitors will have the opportunity to play a different game each week. Games with ratings from "E" for Everyone, up to"T" for Teen level, will be offered. Along with the video games, iPads are available to teens. No registration is required for these free gaming events. Rodman Public Library offers children the chance to try their reading skills on local therapy dogs on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. These specially trained dogs will "listen" to stories in the Children's Program Room at the Main Library.
All dogs are members of Therapy Dogs International and the "Paws and Reflect" Pet Therapy group of Alliance Community Hospital. Studies have shown that children can become better readers when they regularly read aloud to dogs. An animal reading companion provides a relaxing, stress-free and non-judgmental "listening partner" for a beginning or struggling reader.
Fifteen minute time slots are available. Patrons may sign up in advance for a preferred time slot. For more information, call the Children's Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.
