2017-05-27 Sat, May 27, 2017 -- NEW TIME! Read to Amos the Greyhound! All Ages Welcome! at 1:00 PM

Join Amos' BookClub! Bring in a short book from home, or select one from the library. Each child will be meet Amos and Holly, his handler, and read them their selected book! This is NOT a group reading event. Children read only to Amos and Holly. Registration is required. Only 6 spots available per sessions.

**All ages welcome-pre-readers can read with grown-up.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Amos and Holly are certified by Therapy Dogs International and are part of a program called "Tail Waggin' Tutors". Amos is a 7-year-old greyhound, retired from a Florida race track, and weighs 68 lbs. He has the sweetest, most gentle soul, and is fantastic with children of all ages. He is a great listener, but sometimes he does fall asleep! Research has shown that reading to dogs not only improves a child’s self-esteem and self-confidence, but their reading scores as well! This is because:

• Dogs are non-judgmental and will not criticize or ridicule. Quite simply, the dog does not care if the child makes a mistake.

• The child can read aloud in a more private setting, thus eliminating anxiety associated with reeading aloud in front of peers.

• For a child who is lacking in confidence or is a reluctant reader, reading to a dog can directly impact self-esteem in a very positive way!
