Keene Public Library's Summer Reading and Learning Program Dig Deeper: Read, Investigate, Discover!

The program encourages readers of all ages to dig below the surface and discover everything from the science of everyday things to the envisioning of the future, discovering other cultures, peering into nature and the environment, delving into the unknown and exploring a treasury of knowledge. Join us for an exciting array of online programs for children, teens, and adults. Dig Deeper this summer with KPL! 

All are invited to join June 15 through August 10. It's free and fun for all ages!

Participants will look forward to:
  • Attending virtual programs for kids, teens, and adults, including fun performers, book clubs, and local presenters.
  • Earning virtual badges throughout the summer by logging your reading and activities online.
  • Earning a prize for reading at least 15 hours and completing some fun discovery and investigation activities this summer!
To sign up online, you will need the email of a parent or guardian. Once signed up, kids will keep track of the time they read or listen to books & they will earn bonus points for attending library programs & completing games & tasks online & in the community. Any & all kinds of reading counts! 

  • If you registered last summer, you could use the same username and password. If you are a new user or do not recall your previous summer's info, create a new username and password! Usernames are must be unique to all participants throughout the country, so your personal username may have been used, and you may need to adjust it.  Passwords require at least five characters and are case sensitive. Once you are registered, you will receive a confirmation email. SAVE IT!   
  • Please enter your school and the grade that you will be in during the fall of 2019. Remember, the lucky school with the most registrants will their name engraved on our traveling trophy.
  • The online game allows you to create and equip an avatar as you read. The Game Difficulty question relates to how fast the game progresses. It only affects online gameplay.

  • Parents/guardians can access all of their children's accounts from a single log-in using the Family Management Portal.
  • Group registration is available for summer groups and daycares.
  • You can choose a personal reading goal. You do that once you log your reading.
  • This year, we added a community goal. If together we read 1,000 hours, then we donate $100 to the Keene Community Kitchen.

Summer challenges will be found under the CHALLENGES tab or at the Keene Library.  Each challenge has a description and completion instructions!

By logging minutes read and participating in challenges, you can earn web badges and prizes, which you could pick up through curbside pickup in August.
