Welcome to

1,000 Books before Kindergarten @

the Hudson Area Public Library

1,000 Books before Kindergarten is a nationwide challenge that encourages parents and caregivers to share stories and read aloud to their children. Did you know that by reading just one book a night, you could reach the 1,000-book goal in three years?

Reading is a great way to spend time together, and you will be providing your children essential early literacy skills. Studies have shown that children who are read to have increased attention spans, more developed listening and language skills, and larger vocabularies upon entering Kindergarten.  Sharing stories with your child will help to develop these vital skills, and you will be making  memories that last a lifetime!
