Kids age 2 through entering Grade 6 may join this program.
Join the 2018 Ashland Summer Reading Program and help us beat last year's town-wide total of 1,194,713 minutes! Keep track of the time you read by yourself this summer, the time you read aloud to someone else, the time someone reads to you, or the time you listen to an audio book. Each week you will need to record your weekly total in your online log. The Children's Department will once again supply paper charts to anyone who would like one, but all families will be responsible for entering their minutes into their online logs themselves. You can log from any PC, from your phone, or from one of the Library's computers. The Children's Room will have 2 computers set up for logging.
You will earn one reward for each week that you complete at least 60 minutes of reading during that week. Weekly rewards will include books, coupons to area restaurants & Modelville Hobby, pencils and library card holders. Come to the Library any day of the week to collect your rewards. If you can't get to the Library one week you will be able to choose a reward the next time you come to the Library. Kids who are unable to come to the Library at all during the summer will be able to collect up to 5 rewards at the end of the program, between August 11th - Sept. 4th.
August 11th is the last day you can count your reading minutes, but you will have until August 22nd to finish filling in your online log. All prizes must be claimed no later than Sept. 4th. - no exceptions.
PARENTS: Please plan your Library visits to allow your child enough time to select his/her prize books. Kids need time to browse through the selection to make a choice without feeling rushed. Please be considerate of Library staff closing procedures and try to collect your prizes at least 30 minutes before the end of the day. If you come too late to claim a prize you will be able to pick up that prize during your next Library visit.
