2017-07-26 Thu, Jul 27, 2017 -- Author Kate Larson at 7:00 PM

Come hear Kate Larson, author of the 2016 Massachusetts Book Award book “Rosemary: The Hidden Kennedy Daughter," tell us Rosemary’s story. Kate Larson brings Rosemary alive as a girl adored but left far behind by her competitive siblings. She reveals both the sensitive care Rose and Joe gave to Rosemary and then, as the family’s standing reached an apex, the often desperate and duplicitous arrangements the Kennedys made to keep her away from home as she became increasingly difficult in her early twenties. Finally, Larson illuminates Joe’s decision to have Rosemary lobotomized at age twenty-three and the family’s complicity in keeping the secret. Copies of the book will be available for sale after the talk.

Kate Larson is the author of three critically acclaimed biographies. She has been a consultant and interpretive specialist for numerous museum and public history initiatives focusing on the lives and contributions of women in the making of our national identity. Dr. Larson holds two degrees from Simmons College, an MBA from Northeastern University, and a Ph.D. from the University of New Hampshire. She lives in Winchester, Massachusetts.
